Recognition for Qualifying Participation in Operation CAPITOL RESPONSE I and II and the Presidential Inauguration
WASHINGTON, April 14, 2021 - The Department of Defense has approved award of the Armed Forces Service Medal (AFSM) to recognize service members for their qualifying participation in Operation CAPITOL RESPONSE I and II and the Presidential Inauguration. Both Active and Reserve Component members are eligible for such recognition. The period of award is from January 6, 2021 to future to-be-determined termination date. The designated ‘area of eligibility’ includes the National Capital Region (District of Columbia, the Maryland counties of Montgomery and Prince George’s; the Virginia counties of Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William).
WASHINGTON, April 12, 2021 - Department of Housing and Urban Development’s 2020 Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) to Congress found that on a single night in January 2020, there were 37,252 Veterans experiencing homelessness in America, an increase of 0.4% over 2019.
