Summary

Eligibility

You can fill prescriptions through Deployment Prescription program, if you are:

  • A deployed Service member

  • Working as deployed contractor or civil service employee AND you're eligible for TRICARE (i.e. retiree, Spouse)

    • You must pay applicable copayments

    • Express Scripts will limit your prescriptions to a 90-day supply

    • Spouses will use the sponsor’s Social Security number (SSN)

    • Not available if you have other health insurance

  • Getting your health care through the Transitional Assistance Management Program

    • You must pay applicable copayments

    • You may be able to get a 180-day supply if your orders get extended

Benefit Highlights

The Deployment Prescription Program makes getting refills one less thing you need to think about.

Your health care provider will write a special deployment prescription that allows larger refills of your long-term medication. You just need to provide the email and shipping addresses you'll use while you're deployed.

Express Scripts will email you when a refill is due asking you to log in to confirm the order.

Your refills will ship wherever you are so your medication is there when you need it.

Getting New Prescriptions and Refills While Deployed

How to Get New Prescriptions

If you didn’t register before you deployed or you get a new prescription in theater, you can fill it though the Deployment Prescription Program.

You don’t need to register first or order your initial prescription online. Here’s how it works:

  • Your deployed clinic or pharmacy sends your prescription to Express Scripts

  • Express Scripts fills the prescription and sends it to you in theater

  • Average shipping time is about 3-4 weeks

  • You’ll get reminder emails from Express Scripts to order refills

How to Get Refills

Two Months into Your Deployment

Express Scripts sends you the first email message asking you to update your account with your deployed mailing address (APO/FPO). To update your account:

  • Go to militaryrx.express-scripts.com

  • Log in or select “Create an Account” to register

    • Your ID number is your complete SSN.

  • Change your PERMANENT address to your APO/FPO address

    • Don’t input your deployed address as your TEMPORARY address

    • If you don’t update your address, Express Scripts will send your prescriptions to the address provided when you registered.

Four Months into Your Deployment

Express Scripts sends you a second email message reminding you to order your refill(s).

  • Log in to your account on militaryrx.express-scripts.com

  • Express Scripts will mail your prescriptions only after you order them

  • Express Scripts will mail your prescriptions to the address listed in your account

  • Average shipping time is about 3-4 weeks
